Teaching to Learn

March 27, 2010

I am very fortunate I would not do anything else for a living. I am a full time college academic in what I love, Print & Web design/development/IA/UI. I have won over 25 awards in my student competitions. I have a great relationship with my students. Some of my colleagues are the best teachers with which I have ever worked.

Also I consult in all things new media, I own 8 websites that are focused on educational technologies and I also write a column on Technology in Education for a local press’ website. My second book is in the works and my third is in outline form.

I have six different blogs that I contribute to weekly and I also guest lecture at a local HS on Flash.

I am entering two pieces in the Hecksher Museum’s Biennial and have been shown in NYC and on LI.

I have a great family and I completely own my home – which sits on .56aces on Long Island’s Gold Coast. I did this all by myself through hard work and determination.

I am just 54 this year and I am on target for retirement (which I don’t see happening because teaching is just too much fun).

My only problem at the moment is my outward appearance which I am working on diligently this spring/summer.

My father always said your future is in your own hands. He built both his homes, had no mortgage, paid for our college and left us enough to get started. He was right about what he said.
